ABSTRACT

Organizational Commitment (OC) is an attachment of the individual of the organization, and the three most accepted components of this psychological state are affective, instrumental, and normative. The construct was introduced into the literature a few decades ago and interests managers and academics, for its association with desirable organizational outcomes. However, despite its longevity, there are still issues in understanding the phenomenon, for identifying research gaps. Thus, the aim of this work was to conduct a systematic literature review of systematic literature reviews, meta-analyses, and bibliometrics published in Portuguese and English, between 2009 and 2019, on the Capes journal portal. Fifteen studies were identified, in which it was possible to verify the prevalence of investigations of antecedents over consequents, with correspondence and congruences between the findings of the predictors. The authors of the selected studies point out limitations in the design of the construct's constituent elements and its dimensionality, which reflects on the measurement. The findings of this review indicate that the field of OC is at a consolidated stage. However, it looks forward to further research that answers the questions that still exist and assists in the execution of practical interventions in the most different organizational contexts.

ABSTRACT

Background:Traditional complete dentures were the most common treatment option for patients with edentulous arches. However, the initiation of implant-supported overdentures has substitutedorthodox dentures as animproved standard for restoration. Careful case selection is important criteria for improving success rate of implant supported over denture. Lower arch implant-supported overdentures have a better success percentage than upper arch implant-supported overdentures. Upper arch implant-supported overdentures are simulating a form of “salvage treatment,” rather than being the primary modality of treatment for patients with completely edentulous upper arch.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The word placenta comes from Latin - flat cake and Greek -”Plakous” which means “flat, slab like.”Only eutherian mammals possess placenta. The human placenta is discoid, hemochorial and deciduate whichfunctions as a fetomaternal organ. It is developed from chorion frondosum & decidua basalis. Abnormalities inthe development and site of insertion of the umbilical cord can affect maternal and fetal well-being. The umbilicalcord is usually attached near the centre of the placenta. The various types of umbilical cord attachment into theplacenta are: central, eccentric, battledore (marginal), velamentous (membranous) and furcate. Hence knowledgeabout the variations in the placental attachment of umbilical cord is important for clinicians.Aims and Objectives: The present study is undertaken to study various types of placental attachment of umbilicalcord.Materials and methods: The study was carried out on 10% formalin fixed 100 normal human placenta collectedfrom department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Cheluvamba Hospital for children & women, Mysore medicalcollege and research institute, Mysuru, Karnataka. The study was carried out in department of Anatomy, MMC&RI,Mysuru. Study of various types of placental attachment of umbilical cord was done by naked eye observation. The data obtained was tabulated & statistically analysed.Observations and Results: Out of 100 placenta observed 68 placenta had central attachment of umbilical cord,16 placenta had eccentric attachment, 12 placenta had battledore (marginal) attachment and 04 placenta hadmembranous (velamentous) attachment. Conclusion: Variation in the placental attachment of umbilical cord is associated with various congenitalanomalies. Therefore early prenatal ultrasonographic identification of anomalies helps in reducing risk inmaternal and perinatal outcome.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Using interproximal enamel reduction, adding attachments and over-correction are major methods to improve the efficiency of correcting tooth torsion when using clear aligners in the clinic. However, the choice and placement of attachments depend on the experience and habits of orthodontists, and whether the effects are different has not been reported. OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects of rectangular attachment with different thicknesses and locations on the left maxillary canine tooth torsion in clear aligner by three-dimensional finite element analysis. METHODS: The finite element models of the clear aligner-attachment-maxillary canine-periodontal ligament-spongy bone-cortical bone and the clear aligner-maxillary canine-periodontal ligament-spongy bone-cortical bone were established according to the scanning data of in vitro maxillary canine. The models with attachments were divided into four groups based on different thicknesses of attachment, namely 0.5, 0.75,1.0, and 1.5 mm groups. The placement positions were divided into five areas: mesial, distal, occlusal, median, and gingival of canine. 2° clockwise rotation of the tooth axis (X axis) was applied to the clear aligner. The action of the appliance and the canine were calculated by MSC.Marc.Mentat software. Then, the nephograms of stress and displacement, and the maximum stress and displacement values were collected. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) Whether the rectangular attachment was used or not, the two models’ distribution of canine’s displacement and periodontal stress were the same. The stress values of periodontal ligament were all higher than those without rectangular attachment. (2) With the thickness of rectangular attachment increasing, the maximum displacement values of the canine increased gradually, which were 42.94, 49.32, 52.52 and 59.39 urn, respectively. (3) When the rectangular attachment was placed in different positions, the maximal displacement of canine teeth the attachment of which was placed on the median was almost the same with that of the gingival side. While the changes in the mesial and distal directions were irregular. (4) The use of rectangular attachments makes no effect on the movement of instant canines, which only plays a synergistic role in the control of canine tooth torsion. The thickness of the attachment has a certain effect on the torsion of appliance. When the thickness increases, the maximum displacement of the canine tooth and the stress of the periodontal ligament are increased. In the vertical direction, the closer of the placement is to the crown, the better the control of the rotated canine is.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of type of magnet attachment and implant angulation in two implant overdenture models.MATERIALS AND METHODS: Magnet attachments used in this study were flat and dome types (MGT5515, MGT5520D, Dentium Co., Seoul, Korea). Two implants with keepers were inserted in the resin blocks at a distance of 24 mm. For the first model, the implants were parallel to the vertical and perpendicular to the horizontal; for the second model, both were angulated 5 degrees to the mesial; for the third model, both were angulated 10 degrees toward the mesial. The retentive force was measured in both vertical and lateral directions. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS software version 22.0 (α=.05).RESULTS: The flat type magnet attachment showed the highest lateral retentive force in the 20° divergent group (P<.05) and the dome type magnet attachment showed the highest lateral retentive force in the parallel group (P<.05). The vertical and lateral retentive force of the dome type magnet attachment was greater than that of the flat type magnet attachment in every direction (P<.05).CONCLUSION: Within the limitations of this study, the dome shape magnet attachment can resist vertical and lateral retentive force more superiorly than the flat type magnet attachment, regardless of angle, in the mandibular two implant model.

ABSTRACT

In elderly patients with few remaining teeth, overdenture is a good treatment option. Roots beneath the denture protect the alveolar ridge, offer proprioception and improve retention, stability and masticatory efficiency of dentures. Customization of attachments available is a viable alternative for some patients in which prefabricated attachments cannot be placed or in which cost is a factor; to improve the final outcome of the treatment. Due to competitive commercialization, implant treatment has become the norm in current dentistry and the concept of tooth supported overdentures has eclipsed, but with proper case selection, thorough treatment planning and modifications in the denture such as customization of attachments, amalgam stops, cross-linked teeth, and metallic mesh can be applied to prolong the longevity and success of the attachment overdenture prosthesis.

ABSTRACT

Orthodontic treatments with Invisalign® require the use of attachments, which are composite resin buttons attached to tooth surfaces. Attachments constitute one of the most powerful tools for improving the efficiency of orthodontic tooth movement. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate surface wear over six months in two resin composites (Filtek Z350 XT, 3M ESPE and Amelogen Plus TW, Ultradent Products Inc.) used for making Invisalign® attachments. These composites were selected for their esthetic and mechanical properties. Forty attachments were bonded to the buccal surface of maxillary teeth. Materials were randomized and assigned in a double blind manner. Impressions were taken of the attachments using a preestablished technique immediately after bonding and following 6 months of clinical use. The impressions were examined by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) at 12fold magnification to identify changes in surface texture and attachment shape. Data were analyzed using MannWhitney's test on the overall ranking of detected changes in those variables. Statistically significant differences (P<0.001) were found for surface wear, with greater changes in Amelogen Plus. Attachment shape did not change significantly in either material (P>0.05). According to the results of this study, the alteration of the attachment surface during the first six months of treatment depends on the composite used, while attachment shape does not appear to be affected, so the clinical performance of the materials evaluated could be considered acceptable (AU)

ABSTRACT

This document is a description of the macroscopic functional anatomy of the ulna bony prominences in the White-footed Tamarin (Saguinus leucopus), a neotropical endemic, and monotypic primate of Colombia. Few studies have been conducted on its anatomy, and thus its ulnar morphology, an essential element for this animal's quadrupedal arboreal locomotion, remains unknown. This study is based on eight specimens, fixed in formalin at 10 % whose ulnas were extracted in order to describe the main bony prominences along with muscular and ligamentous fixation functions. These elements of the locomotor apparatus and the multiple anatomical contours of the ulna of the White-footed Tamarin, exhibit characteristics for positional and articular adjustment with other bones of the forelimb in harmony with the attachments of the muscles, essential for quadrupedal arboreal locomotion.

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: This in vitro study investigated and compared the durability and retention of three types of attachments. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Three commercially available attachments were investigated: Clix(R), Dalbo-Plus(R) and Locator(R). In total, 72 samples of these attachments were placed in the acrylic resin forms and subjected to mechanical testing (5400 cycles of insertion and removal) over the respective ball or Locator abutments immersed in artificial saliva at pH 7 and 37degrees C. The abutments were placed at angulations of 0degrees, 10degrees and 20degrees. The retention force was recorded at the beginning and after 540, 1080, 2160, 3240, 4320 and 5400 insertion-removal cycles. RESULTS: The results revealed that there were significant differences in the average values of the insertion/removal force due to angulation (F (2.48) = 343619, P<.05) and the type of attachment (F (7.48) = 23.220, P<.05). CONCLUSION: Greater angulation of the abutments was found to influence the retention capacity of the attachments, and the fatigue test simulating 5 years of denture insertion and removal did not produce wear in the metal abutments.

ABSTRACT

This work reports a clinical case where a 82 years-old patient had complaints about the removable portion of an hybrid maxillary prosthesis. Two dental implants were inserted in the posterior region and the new reconstruction was designed as an O-ring retained overdenture. The female portions of the metalloceramic crowns of teeth 13 and 23 could not be captured in this way. Even thus, given the technical and financial limitations, the proposed treatment addressed all esthetic and functional patient demands

ABSTRACT

The objective of this work was to develop and validate an organizational entrenchment scale which is a construct on the same theoretical base of continuance commitment. Three dimensions were defined: individual adjustment to social positions (ASP), impersonal bureaucratic arrangements (IBA) and limitation of alternatives (LA). Data collected from 721 workers were subjected to exploratory and confirmatory analyses in order to conduct a psychometric evaluation of the scale. Results indicate stability, potential for generalization and strong internal consistency across the three dimensions formed by the remaining twenty-two items, and they also support the choice of a three-component structure. Future studies using this validated scale will contribute for further conceptual and empirical refinement of the organizational entrenchment concept...

ABSTRACT

Previously, the choice of prosthetic implant-retained overdentures has depended on data from previous studies about the retention-fatigue strength of the attachment system selected.Little or no data have been available on the correlation between the attachment system selected and the overdenture support configuration. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the retention force and fatigue resistance of three attachment systems and four support designs of overdenture prosthesis.Four lower edentulous acrylic models were prepared and eight combinations of attachments groups were investigated in the study. These included:O-Rings with mini-dental implants (MDIs),Dalbo elliptic with Dalbo Rotex and fabricated flexible acrylic attachments with both MDI and Dalbo Rotex. The study was divided into four test groups:groups A and B,controls, and groups C and D,experimental groups.Control group A contained three overdenture supports:two free standing MDIs in the canine region and at the midline, and one simulated tooth root with Dalbo Rotex screwed in.Control group B contained four overdenture support foundations:two free standing MDIs in the right canine region and the first premolar region, and two simulated tooth roots with Dalbo Rotex screwed in at the same MDI position, but on the left side of the model.Experimental group C contained three overdenture support foundations:two free standing MDIs in the canine region and at the midline, and one simulated tooth root with MDI screwed in.Experimental group D contained four overdenture support foundations:two free standing MDIs in the right canine region and the first premolar region, and two simulated tooth roots with MDIs screwed in at the same MDI position, but on the left side of the model. Each group was further divided into two subgroups according to attachment type used.Five samples were prepared for each group.Retention force (N) values were recorded initially (0 cycles) and after 360,720,1440 and 2880 insertion and removal cycles.During the tensile test a cross-head speed of 10 mm/min was applied.Values of absolute force (AF) and relative force (RF) were statistically analyzed by two-way ANOVA and multiple comparison Tukey's tests between groups and cycles periods. The results of fatigue tests showed a 50% reduction in retention force in the subgroups with flexible attachments.A triangular design of overdenture support foundations with O-Ring attachments revealed the lowest value of AF and a relatively high reduction in RF.The four overdenture support designs with flexible acrylic attachments improved the retention force and reduced the fatigue retention.Furthermore, the results of the investigation demonstrate that flexible acrylic attachments for both teeth and implant-supported overdentures offer a wide range of retention forces.

ABSTRACT

This study describes a new fixation system for removable appliances that does not require the fabrication of clasps and is specially recommended for patients whose teeth provide little or no retention. This fixation system, called GCS, uses attachments fabricated with orthodontic buttons bonded to the teeth. It provides excellent mechanical retention, and the removable appliances, in this case an expander, can be activated as if they were fixed appliances cemented or bonded to teeth. An additional advantage is that they may be removed for cleaning and repairs, if necessary. This study also describes a GCS retention appliance that fits into the attachments and fixes the appliance in a certain position, which precludes the use of clasps and may be adapted for practically all active or retentive orth odontic devices as it combines high retentive efficiency and fabrication simplicity.

ABSTRACT

Full mouth rehabilitation always claims careful attention and meticulous treatment planning. It becomes more challenging with the partial edentulism where bilateral segment is found missing. Successful restoration can be done with plenty of contemporary and conventional treatment planning. Attachment retained partial dentures are one such kind of treatment modality in prosthodontics. Studies have also demonstrated that precision-attachment partials last longer, wear less, need less adjustments, look better, work better, less destructive, protect abutment teeth, and are easier to clean. In this case report patient’s functional and aesthetic expectations were met by doing full mouth rehabilitation using combination of Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) restorations and semiprecision attachments.

ABSTRACT

There are various types of obturator fabrication achievable by prosthodontist. Maxillectomy, which is a term used by head and neck surgeons and prosthodontists to describe the partial or total removal of the maxilla in patients suffering from benign or malignant neoplasms is a defect for which to provide an effective obturator is a difficult task for the maxillofacial prosthodontist. Multidisciplinary treatment planning is essential to achieve adequate retention and function for the prosthesis. Speech is often unintelligible as a result of the marked defects in articulation and nasal resonance. This paper describes how to achieve the goal for esthetics and phonetics and also describes the fabrication of a hollow obturator by two piece method, which is simple and maybe used as definitive obturator for maximum comfort of the patient.

ABSTRACT

Since the establishment of implant in dentistry, the use of removable partial denture in replacing missing teeth apparently becomes less popular. The situation is made worse by the renowned limitations of removable partial denture. One of the obvious limitations of removable partial denture, especially in replacing missing anterior teeth is the unsightly view of metal used for retentive clasp. This case report describes the use of spring loaded plunger attachments as an alternative way to achieve retention and at the same time improving the aesthetic of the prosthesis.
